Ron Roy, Conference/Benefits Coordinator of the Washington State Fire Fighters’ Association talks about how GrowthZone has saved his organization time and money, and changed the way they manage their association.
What AMS were you using before GrowthZone and why did you switch?
When the Washington State Fire Fighters’ Association was doing our annual conferences, we struggled because we have all volunteers on our board that do all of our work. We were doing a registration process through another Fire Organization and they were using a product called RegOnline. When they set that up, it was a struggle for us to get the right information returned for our conference. We struggled with the amount of information that was given to us, which was very minimal, and then tried to figure out who had registered for what.
What was it like using GrowthZone to manage your conferences?
We were able to do our registration and change classes on the fly. If someone canceled or was added within the program, we could adjust that quickly. We could collect all fees and even invoice our members that were registering so that their departments would pay it.
What do you like best about GrowthZone?
One of the things that we have found in GrowthZone is responsiveness with staff to what our needs are for our association. They’ve been tremendous in adding intricate pieces to our system, including the use of credit card (payments) right through GrowthZone.
Are you saving time using GrowthZone?
We have saved a tremendous amount of time in being able to do our conference and build our conference registration (numbers). The ability to communicate with our members in GrowthZone has saved us a tremendous amount of time as well.
What are your members saying about GrowthZone?
Our conference registration people have said, “Wow, this is so much easier than it has been in the past.” As a single department, you can register one attendee or as many as you want while you are in the system. It’s really easy to add several students and it’s been tremendous. We have had that kind of feedback with people saying, “It is so much easier than what you guys have had in the past.” It has worked really well and we have had that communicated back to us.
What would you say to another association looking for an AMS?
If you’re not using an Association Management Software to help you with your communications, day-to-day operations, and to be in direct and frequent contact with your members, you’ve missed the boat. We have discovered since we joined GrowthZone that this type of software has not only saved us a tremendous amount of time, it has saved us money compared to what we were paying prior to GrowthZone alongside its flexibility and (our) ability to communicate with our members.
