The Challenge

The International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) has one simple goal: to provide accessible science to over 3,000 global members and advance its mission of worldwide science equity. But reaching a diverse, international audience, especially during a global pandemic, proved to be an enormous task.

ISCB needed a way to centralize resources, host virtual events, and allow members to connect year-round through a single, cohesive platform.

The Solution

The time had come to streamline its technology and bring everything into one platform. After evaluating potential solutions, ISCB chose the GrowthZone Community Platform for its ability to consolidate multiple needs: virtual events, a career center, training libraries, social hubs, and archival access to past conferences.

The Results

GrowthZone Community Platform enabled ISCB to attract members from 86 countries to its 2020 annual meeting - and 89 countries in 2021. Nucleus became the central hub where members share ideas, connect with experts, access free and members-only training, collaborate through mentoring programs, and explore career opportunities.

“It was an eye-opener for us how quickly we could achieve the mission of science equity and really enable those who don’t have the funding to travel to these big conferences to come and collaborate and present their science. We realized we were able to deliver science to developing and underdeveloped countries in a much better way,” Diane said.

With GrowthZone, ISCB condensed its tech stack into one simple, intuitive platform. Staff are now more efficient, members engage more deeply, and the organization can track interactions and opportunities to enhance community involvement.
